SATDAS programme upholds the competent, efficient and resourceful use of natural resources and energy in order to be able to adapt and be resilient to the climate change (unpredictable changing weather) while facilitating economic growth that supports sustainable agricultural production and improvement of arid and semi-arid and rural livelihoods thus alleviating poverty. It is only underneath these circumstances (policies) that sustainable agricultural production and sustainable agricultural development strategies can prevail in arid and semi-arid areas.
SATDAS effective agricultural policies and programmes focus on intensification responsiveness on the use of sustainable agricultural development strategies to boast Sustainable Development Goals initiative in arid and semi-arid regions. Government at all levels and donors support in provision of funds and resources is necessary to enhance Sustainable Agri-Tech Development in Arid and Semi-arid areas programme. Adoption of SATDAS sustainable agricultural development strategies is a necessity, given the negative trends in climatic variables in recent times. Ultimately, SATDAS will be an agricultural programme that safeguard the natural asset sector base over time in the area and beyond and brings about climate resilience, adaptation and mitigation.
